Do's and Don'ts In Learning Judo
This translation of instructions given by Prof. Yoshiaki Yamashita, Kodokan 10th dan, was
a common site for Detroit Judo Club members. It later appeared in the program for the US
National Junior Judo Championships held in Detroit, June 27-28, 1969. An excellent read.
Post this in your dojo! Carry it in your gi bag!
Principle of Judo is Like the Nature of Water
A mimeograph handed out when John Osako ran the Chicago Judo Club. Written by Gunji
Koizumi, he refers to Dr. M. Feldenkrais who sheds a scientific light on Judo. Also on
this page is a short history of Mr. Koizumi, thanks to an insert in Judo Magazine,
June 1965, a magazine of British judo.
Jigoro Kano on the Importance of Ukemi

(breakfalls). This is shortsighted and will not produce a well-rounded judoka - the goal
of the Detroit Judo Club. Read what Jigoro Kano said about the benefits of this basic
element of Judo training.
